In the last couple years Google has pushed the use of it’s search engine for local information. Google has integrated it’s popular maps application with comprehensive local search functionality. Local website’s that Google deems relevent for local keywords are rewarded with placement on their results pages at a higher position than the normal natural results.
This new type of search results make SEO for Google Local vital for the success of any business that has a local target audience. Testing has show that Google’s algorithm for local search is significantly different than it’s algorithm for organic search and PPC. It is conceptionally the same. That is, Google rewards site’s algorithmically for having a lot of editorial citations from reputable sources. The question is what constitutes a quality editorial citation for Google Local?
